Role Overview
  • Under the supervision of the Logistics & Reception Officer, the incumbent will provide day-to-day administrative and protocol support services, ensuring the smooth delivery of services whilst providing needed support to the Principal Protocol Officer
Role and Responsibilities
  • Undertake protocol duties relating to all meeting and event logistics, immunities and privileges, consular services and other related areas as assigned, for the Commission, its staff and guests;
  • Receive, review and screen all incoming protocol correspondence and documents and perform preliminary checks for accuracy and completeness;
  • Provide support for all diplomatic accreditations to the Commission and the Community;
  • Provide all necessary physical and administrative support for implementation of Headquarters Agreement;
  • Provide necessary support for all airport and travel services, including reception, dispatch, luggage, consular, etc;
  • Collect and process necessary supporting documents for travel-related claims as directed;
  • Provide support where necessary to General Administration for security arrangements for Commission’s premises and at venue of events and meetings;
  • Coordinate and interface with logistic services providers  and users of services;
  • Update periodically and monitor accuracy of Commission’s diplomatic directory and that of partners;

Academic Qualifications and Experience
  • Brevet de Technicien Superieur (BTS) / Ordinary National Diploma (OND), Bachelors in Social Sciences and Humanities, Social Sciences, Diplomacy and Etiquette, Logistics Management, Shipping, Clearance and Forwarding, Project Management, Public Administration or other related field.
  • High Proficiency in MS Office Suite,
  • 5 years’ experience in  the specific area of protocol relevant to job function, preferable in an International Organisation or in a multi-lateral setting, and/or experience in international travel arrangements, procedures and processes;
  • Knowledge of travel related processing requirements and logistics, visa applications and processes, ticketing and reservations
  • Knowledge of ECOWAS conference policies, procedures and practices, accepted norms, rules and customs of international diplomatic protocol, including practices developed within the ECOWAS System.
  • Knowledge of planning and implementation of  administrative and logistical arrangements for meetings, conferences, and workshops within and outside base station;

Role Overview
  • The incumbent reports directly to the Accountant – Community Levy and has the responsibility for assisting with the  execution of the financial policies and regulations in the area of Community Levy (CL) Management and production of CL financial statement including income & Expenditure statement, Balance sheet and other reports as may be required by management.
  • Ensure all CL ledgers are reconciled and maintain an updated record of all accounts.
 Role and Responsibilities
  • Ensure an up to date reconciliation of all Community Levy ledgers so as to certify the validity of financial statements in accordance with existent regulations;
  • Regularly update and maintain records of member States levy deposits and assessments
  • Review posting of transactions into the accounting software;
  • Assist in liaising with the central banks to provide monthly bank statements for all levy proceeds account
  • Check and certify the correctness of the bank reconciliation statements and ensure that they are filed safely for the review of both internal and external auditors;
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic and annual community levy reports;
  • Carry out any other duties that may be assigned.
Academic Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting or Finance from a recognized university.
  • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, administration, budget, business administration or related area, is required;
  • Familiarity with administrative and financial policies and procedures; knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to particular sector or specialized field;

Role Overview

  • Provide legal expertise to ECOWAS Commission in implementation of the ECOWAS mandate;
  • Assist in the drafting of policy documents, organic and operational documents for the ECOWAS technical departments;

Role Overview
  • Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Principal Legal Adviser, International Negotiations & Codification, the incumbent will participate in negotiations meetings and provide Council role advice to ECOWAS, prepare and propose legal texts and provide assistance in their implementation.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Assist in drafting legal Acts of the Community, including Additional Acts of the Conference of Heads of State and Government, Regulations, Directives and Decisions of the Council of Ministers according to the new legal regime of the Community;
  • Assist in drafting other types of legal acts on behalf of the Commission, including conventions, agreements and contracts;
  • Develop programs for the harmonization of legal and judicial policies devised by the Director, and assists in their implementation;
  • Develops draft cooperation agreements between member states on legal and judicial issues;
  • Assist in monitoring the Commission’s working relationship with the ECOWAS Parliament and Court of Justice and promote synergies amongst lawyers;
  • Ensure respect for the privileges and immunities conferred on the Commission and its staff, under the terms of the Headquarters Agreement, the General Convention on Privileges and Immunities of ECOWAS and other international conventions;
  • Provide support to the Director, through the Senior Legal Adviser, for the performance of tasks within their respective areas of competence;
  • Provide legal advice in his area to statutory officials and all Commission staff;
  • Also formulate legal opinions at statutory or internal meetings of the Commission to facilitate understanding and decision-making;

  • 7 years progressively responsible experience as a lawyer in the legal office of an intergovernmental organization or government is desirable;
  • knowledge of  international law; ability to apply legal expertise to analyzing a diverse range of complex and unusual legal issues and problems and in developing innovative and creative solutions;
